4/11/2024 0 Comments Why flash your ecu yamahaI have a pc3 on my bike and I see this as a much better system the pc5 with auto tune is nice but you still have the issue of ignition timing and all the other features the flash tune system allows access to the dynojet stuff does not like fan temp control, engine braking ect. I agree in the wrong hands this software could cause damage but used correctly it would seem it can do everything a power commander can do and much more such as remove all speed, timing and rpm limiters as well as disable the immobilizer. The Flash tune system allows for use of dynojet maps as well as their own dyno tested maps so if you can load dynojet maps into your ecu without a power commander why would you buy a power commander? Ok thats some good info ssblade but what about all these aftermarket systems essentially being a secondary piggy back system?įlashing the ecu allows the adjustments to be done at the source thus eliminating the possibility of a secondary system failing or malfunctioning? basically the auto tune works great but being tuned by the wrong guy will still not produce the best results. if the parameters of the auto tune are set to the wrong a/f for max power than of course it won't create the best map, thats where the dyno comes in as it can check the power output of the map being used. having said that, and owning a dyno, the best way to check is to run it up. it's unrealistic to keep bringing a bike to get tuned on the dyno for every mod you do and thats why i like it. if you're putting auto tune on, odds are you're modifying your machine a fair bit and to be able to keep tuning to near maximum everytime you change your set up is worth quite a bit in my eyes. Ps, by saying the auto tune was best, i was meaning more in a bang for your buck situation. i would say this yamaha reflashing/mapping/ignition mapping software could be disasterous in the wrong hands. when motty first came out with a self mapping tuner i thought that would be the future but obviously it hasn't really taken off aside from techies that understand what they're doing. dynojet didn't want to bring auto tune to market but felt forced to from bazazz, they told us to not sell them and tell the customers they're backordered to get the dyno work. however, in the wrong hands of course it may not turn out for the best. i've installed a bunch of auto tune set ups and then run them on the dyno to hit all the mapping points and i couldn't do much better on improving the map it made. I can adjust my stance a bit, auto tune being used by someone who can set up the parameters properly and understands mapping is a great thing. This system eliminates the need for a power commander,a TRE ,an ignition module or any rev and top speed limiter removal hardware.Īlso this system comes with pre made dyno tuned maps (like a pc) for each bike running different fuels and will also load power commander maps. If I wanted to advance my ignition by 3 degrees I have to buy a dyno jet ignition module to connect to my pc3 at about the whole cost of this entire setup. I have a pc3 on my bike and have done some home and minimal dyno tuning and I can tell you just cause the bikes been dyno tuned does not mean it is setup perfectly for the street. Having that data and the ability to change ECU fuel map and ignition timing maps would give you the same tuning capability as pro circuit racing teams. From what I have read you are better using a wide band a/f data logger than a dyno so you can take the real world numbers and tune accordingly.Ī dyno tune is a simulation and not a very good one at that, tuning with a data logger tells you what is really happening when you are actually riding the bike.
